Global commercial bank strategic change portfolio design
The brief
A global tier one bank contracted us to support the strategic business office in reviewing its change portfolio in order to optimise collaboration and innovation across the business.
Our approach
This required facilitating key commercial banking business-wide design issues; assessing potential convergence opportunities across the portfolio, identifying common capabilities, framing recommendations to internal design authorities; and developing a market blueprint artefact. This involved:
- Creation of market blueprints to detail the impact of strategic business initiatives on key markets and customer segments, teams, processes, technology and data;
- Project management of enhancements to existing tooling to automate market blueprints and adopt a portfolio performance dashboard to facilitate a dynamic interlock across products, regions and markets;
- Articulation of key change deliverables in business outcome-based language and mapping against impacted customer segments and team capabilities.
The solution and key benefits
We completed enhancements to existing tooling, including adoption of a portfolio performance dashboard and creation of a market blueprint, leading to more effective collaboration and sharing of innovation across the bank. As part of the programme we identified and prioritised common capabilities to deliver consistent outcomes at a significantly lower cost and reduce risk to the business, as well as enriching communications to the market leadership team.
